(Community Service Day 2026) Southampton FoodLab and Community Garden (Brighten the Brook)

ABOUT COMMUNITY SERVICE DAY:

Join us for an exciting annual tradition, Community Service Day, which is a highlight of Welcome Week! This event offers incoming Seawolves a chance to engage in various service projects, both within and beyond the campus, throughout the day. As a token of appreciation, participants will be gifted lunch courtesy of Jersey Mike's Subs and a complimentary t-shirt (while supplies last). Check-in begins at 8:30AM in the Student Activities Center Auditorium, with our official kickoff at 9:00AM. Volunteers will be guided to their projects to begin at 10:00AM. For most projects, the day is estimated to conclude by 2pm (some off-campus projects may return to campus closer to 3pm). Be part of this impactful day as we come together to give back to the community!

ABOUT THIS SERVICE PROJECT:

Contribute this Community Service Day by beautifying our Southampton campus and supporting the FoodLab's horticulture efforts! The FoodLab's mission is to study challenging food-related issues, including how to feed a growing population facing climate change and diminishing natural resources. Transportation will be provided for this off-campus trip. Volunteers must wear closed-toed shoes and are strongly encouraged to wear a hat and sunscreen. Please note that this project involves active, hands-on outdoor work that can include manual labor such as digging, lifting, and planting.

Note: If the maximum number of guests are registered to attend this project, you may join the waitlist or view the Center for Service Learning and Community Service page to register for another Community Service Day project. You are still welcome to join us on August 21st if you remain on the waitlist - we will be happy to match you to projects with open availability!
