Empire State Service Corps Virtual Information Session

Are you passionate about making a difference in your community? Join us for an information session on the Empire State Service Corps (ESSC) a SUNY-wide initiative offering PAID service opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students committed to public service and civic engagement.
 
ESSC provides students the chance to gain real-world experience through meaningful service in one of several key focus areas. Students will serve either on or off campus, in partnership with local nonprofits, government agencies, or campus-based programs. Focus areas include:
 

• Civic Engagement & Civil Discourse: Promote nonpartisan voter outreach, voter registration, and peer engagement around civic participation.
• Early Childhood: Support early learning through placements at daycare centers, Head Start programs, and other early childhood education sites.
• FAFSA Completion: Help fellow students or local high schoolers navigate the FAFSA process and increase access to financial aid.
• Food Insecurity & SNAP Basic Needs: Assist with food pantry operations, SNAP outreach, and basic needs resource support on and off campus.
• K–12 Education: Provide academic support and tutoring to help students recover from pandemic-related learning loss.
• Peer Mental Health: Train as a peer mental health educator and support wellness and mental health initiatives in your campus or local community.
• Student Success Coaching: Mentor middle or high school students and provide holistic support in areas such as attendance, SEL, and motivation.
• Sustainability: Engage in environmental projects such as tree planting, sustainability outreach, and supporting local green initiatives.
• Veterans Affairs Outreach: Serve at host sites supporting active-duty military members, veterans, and their families through outreach, resources, and community engagement programs.
